A Boring Day

17 04 2009 - 00:35

Today was really boring. Hilary was at work and Tim was out most of the day (in traffic most of it I think trying to get to and from a retail park in Edinburgh to buy a new computer desk, which he is now trying to assemble! I am wisely keeping out of the way)

Ok, I did get my forest walk with Tim earlier but we didn’t meet anyone, canine or human. How boring.

I didn’t even have the cat for company at home. Yesterday Monty had been accidently shut in the spare bedroom for most of the day (well, Tim told Hilary it was an accident, but I think it just might have been deliberate) so today he made sure he was outside all day having fun!

I was so bored I didn’t even bother to eat my breakfast till Hilary came home from work.

And now I am settling for a snooze on the sofa hoping tomorrow is more exciting.

The First Dog!

15 04 2009 - 01:29

There has been a lot of cover in the press recently of the new first dog of the USA!

Bo is a six month old Portugese Water Dog, and he has recently adopted the Obama family as his humans. Honestly, what a silly breed and name! Max the German Shepherd Dog sounds so much better!

Have a look at Bo at the White House as reported by the BBC. You can see him taking the Obama family for a walk and being surrounded by press attention. he must be an important dog. Mind you I don’t think he has his own blog!

Just dog food.....

14 04 2009 - 01:12

The last few days have been quite exciting foodwise.

Ok, I may not have got any chocolate easter eggs (dog friendly chocolate or otherwise, which reminds me, oh Bryony, just how come you know what dog chocolate tastes like? Have you been stealing my supplies in the past?)

However I had a taste of a hot cross bun, and I got some cheddar cheese yesterday too! I also have been trying other animal’s food. Yesterday I got into Monty’s room and ate up his food (the things I have to do to help him not put on weight) and I also helped Hilary when she was cleaning our his dishes by eating up the lovely stale scraps too.

But the most interesting taste I have experienced in recent days was fish food! Hilary was trying to multi task as she fed Rob the other day, so she was speaking on the phone as she opened his container of food and managed to knock it (and the phone) all over the floor! Honestly- as Rob only gets a couple of flakes at a time she must have spilt about six months worth of food!

She desparatly tried to scrape it all back up into his tub, (picking up a few of my hairs along the way, I noticed, which will provide extra nutrition!) and I helped too by licking up a lot of what was left. Quite tasty it was too!

But today (so far) it has just been normal dog food! However I overheard Hilary saying she was going to go to Asda tonight while Tim was out at Vestry.. so maybe she will bring me back a tasty treat!

A special day!

13 04 2009 - 00:38

Today is Easter Monday and my male human finally had a day off! No services at church today! Mind you, he did get several church phone calls and emails, so not complete relaxation!

Anyway he was having a day off today which means a whole day with me! After a rather long lie, he took me for a really nice walk to a New Place. It was called Loch Max or something like that, and was very hilly! Tim was quite puffed as it was so steep, but me- I barely noticed it! It was nice being somewhere new and smelling new smells. It was also very sunny.

It was also a special day as last night…. drum roll… I got to sleep on a real human bed! No not, with my own humans (they are rather mean) but on the spare bed. The double spare bed at that- lots of room for me to spread out amongst Tim’s rather large ironing pile!

I think my humans must have accidently not shut the door properly as they don’t usually let me in that room. But a little push from me and in I crept and settled down on the comfort of a real bed, only to be rudely awakend at 7am when Hilary got up for work and went to find me. She kindly left me there when she went for her shower. I suppose she realised that the clean laundry was already covered in my hairs by then anyway! Actualluy I don’t suppose she really cared- it was all Tim’s ironing I (my humans do their own ironing) anyway as hers was all done and put away as usual!

Happy Easter!!

A very Happy Easter to all my readers!

Yes, today is Easter Day when we celebrate the risen Christ! Very exciting! My humans have another special service at church, and then, I think Tim is going to collapse in a heap in the corner having survived his 26 church services this week. A church Marathon indeed, in the lead up to the finishing line of Easter Day! It all sounded rather exciting though – I mean there was a procession, a sword and a rock in last week’s service for Palm Sunday, an emptying of the church called “stripping of the altar” on Thursday (making it look liked we’d been robbed!) , and a real (and very smokey) fire last night!

Humans often eat chocolate Easter Eggs at Easter time, and I noted Hilary managed a couple of tiny fairly traded “mini eggs” with her breakfast today. Being a dog of course I don’t get chocolate as that is dangerous for us canines, but I did get a lovely Easter gift from my caring female human. Two tubes of lovely new tennis balls! Yes she finally managed to track some down in the centre of Dunfermline and I am now the proud owner of nine spanking new balls waiting to be played with, and one already chewed, dirty and smelly one that has miraclously survived a walk with me! I had great fun playing with it this morning on my walk and Hilary kept a close eye on it to ensure we didn’t lose it. Mind you, it is rather soggy after I took it for a bathe in the stream with me.

Anyway here’s to the joys of new life and spring! Happy Easter!
